It's Friday the 13th! I recreated a dinner I did 5 years ago and invited some of our best friends: the Drapers, Pearsons, Buehlers, & Yates. I made sure to use all of the Superstitions: spilled salt, guy under a ladder, broken glass, a black cat, an open umbrella in the house, black- the color of death, & red- the chinese color for death. When guests arrived they were forced to step on a crack, walk past a black cat, & walk under a ladder! We all had a superstition and it's origin to read aloud, then my kids entertained us with the piano and were our waiters. They earned a few tips at the end of the night and were pretty ecstatic about that!

50th Anniversary Party
Victor's parents had their 50th anniversary and wanted a party so I told them I'd be in charge and surprised them with every detail!
I helped design the cake and mom used her talents to carry out my vision!
On the invitation I asked everyone to dress in black, white, & gold. Much to my surprise, everyone happily complied! It made it really fun!
After Dinner, Alex gave a speech and then we had a talent show. Every family had to do something. Our family danced to the Trolls song "I got this Feeling". It was a lot of fun to see everyone's talents!

Tommy's 6th birthday party
We celebrated Tommy's 6th birthday on his half birthday this year. He was a good sport about waiting. I told him he could have a plain party on his birthday in December or an awesome dinosaur party if he waited until his half birthday and that was a no brainer for him!
Here he is with his favorite friends:
Jax, Colter, Whitney, Tommy, Taylor, Tucker, & Josh
I made a fun dino sign to welcome everyone.
His friends were so excited to come that they came early so I had them draw the dinosaur footprints for me.
When they came inside they were greeted by loud dinosaur sounds and given a hat and their own dinosaur name.
We had them made binoculars for the big dinosaur egg hunt.
Here is his dinosaur table. I had a lot of fun putting this together.
The kids LOVED calling their drinks swamp water and hot lava. We had plenty left over and they called it that until it was gone.
I made Tommy's cake out of rice crispies. It was HUGE and took forever to let each layer dry so I could add another batch!
I hid a cup inside so I could surprise the boys with smoke. The boys went nuts and I heard the word "AWESOME!" over and over ;)
Crazy kids eating lunch. We had great weather all week and of course it decided to be windy on this day!
While they ate lunch I ran over to the park and hid dinosaur eggs all over.
His cousins came late, but just in time for the hunt. Here they all are at the beginning. I tried to hide half of them pretty good, others were in the grass.
This one doesn't show a lot... except Uncle Evan. (It's my only picture of him at the party!) He acted like a dinosaur throughout the party and the kids loved it and played with him a lot.
Cousin Ivy looking for eggs. I was surprised how much the kids actually used their "dinoculars" instead of just racing around.
Tommy finding the last birthday egg.
He was pretty tickled pink that he got a bonus special egg.
We walked back to the house and had a dinosaur egg race.
Then I had one last dinosaur hunt for them in the yard. They had to find a "nest" of eggs.
These were special dinosaur eggs that we made out of baking soda.
Here they are being little paleontologists. I gave them a popsicle stick to dig with and then when they got their plastic dinosaur mostly uncovered they got a vinegar spray that made the last of the baking soda bubble off.
Lastly, we ate the cake & rice crispies! Here is our happy birthday boy with his cake. We tried putting the candles on the cake, but the vapor from the dry ice kept putting it out so we put them in the cupcakes.
Tommy happily got lots of dinosaur presents. His favorite was the two dinosaurs in his hands that roar and their eyes light up.
He has since made great use from all of his toys and convinces all of his friends to love playing dinosaurs too!

Mark's 60th Cowboy Party
Mark turned 60 so my mom wanted a party of things he loves. He loves to dress up and go to cowboy shooting competitions and he loves the color red so our theme was born!
Here is birthday boy with all of his local grand kids.
Here is my mom, his sister from Texas, Mark, his mom, and his Uncle Charlie from Texas as well. It was so nice to have them there!
Here is the invite I made:
Here is a poster I made to welcome guests.
His cowboy cart he takes to shoots.
The dessert wall
His cake was a combined effort of my mom, me, Aunt Dawn, and a cake lady as I didn't have time for it and my mom was in a sling.
I came up with clever treats to fit the theme!
Mark loves ginger snaps and molasses cookies so I made those "mud pies"
We had LOTS of yummy food!
Pulled pork sandwiches from our local yummy Pitmaster restaurant.
The "waterin' hole" was one of my favorite decorations.
We had everyone eat in the "jail house" that I made bars to get into from each side.
It filled up fast in there!
We had the kids eat in the little jail house....
Tommy has quite the mean face when he tries!
Sam
Sad Whitney!
Cute Cowgirl
Little kid table... and adult overflow!
After dinner I had games for the kids to play. I'd say the panning for Gold was the biggest hit. It took me an entire can of gold spray paint to make all the gold!
Will was especially obsessed. I checked the time stamp between this picture and later pictures of him and he did it off and on for an hour and 45 minutes straight!
He talked his great Aunt Dawn into doing it for quite awhile with him too. :)
Our cowboy shooting are for the kids. The adults were supposed to do a shooting gallery too, but we ran out of time to set it up!
The kids had a blast doing hay rides up and down the hill...
...and of course I got put to work when they got tired of pulling each other.
Vic and Tucker played this for quite awhile... Tucker had an accident while I was getting ready for the party and I was so busy I never got him back in his pants (why he is wearing pajamas at the party!)
We ended the night with Mark blowing out his cake and eating desserts.
Mom insisted that a trail mix be their thank you gift so I thought I was pretty clever coming up with this sign for it!
Here is our hard-working cowboy family! ...and you can see the "outhouse" sign on the bathroom door, hehe! :)
