September Happenings

It was so nice on Labor Day that we decided to run up to the cabin one more time.  It cooled down to 65 over just a week!  Our kids didn't seem to mind.  We still went out and kayaked and jumped on the water trampoline.  For my birthday, I really wanted my brown ceiling painted white so Vic waited until that day to do it and work.  By the time he got done it was getting late, but I really wanted to go on a hike with the kids so we raced up to the Heise area and did a little hike up there.  Tucker gave me this cute note for his present.

Whitney did a pine wood derby race and while cutting her car, Vic tried to cut off 2 fingers from his other hand on the table saw!!!!  I ended up finishing her car for her because Vic's hand was out of commission for a few weeks.

We stayed at a hotel in town.  The kids think this is just as fun as travelling!

Friday the 13th

It's Friday the 13th!  I recreated a dinner I did 5 years ago and invited some of our best friends: the Drapers, Pearsons, Buehlers, & Yates.  I made sure to use all of the Superstitions: spilled salt, guy under a ladder, broken glass, a black cat, an open umbrella in the house, black- the color of death, & red- the chinese color for death.  When guests arrived they were forced to step on a crack, walk past a black cat, & walk under a ladder!  We all had a superstition and it's origin to read aloud, then my kids entertained us with the piano and were our waiters.  They earned a few tips at the end of the night and were pretty ecstatic about that!

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend was packed full of fun.  We went up to the cabin with our friends, the Hartmans, and played on the lake.  We lucked out and had the warmest Labor Day weekend we can remember. It was 80 degrees up in the mountains! It was a lot of fun and this is the first year our kids didn't get tired of jet skiing by the end of the summer.  They loved it just as much on this trip as at the beginning of summer.  On Monday we drove to Jackson Hole to go horse back riding, white water rafting, and then drove back home.  It was a busy, but fun day.

August Happenings

The first week of August we were up in Island Park then the rest of August we tried to squeeze the last out of summer.  We played in the backyard pool, painted our nails, Whitney continued to talk Tucker into dressing up like a girl, we helped my mom move the last of her stuff out of the family cabin (and got some play time in as well!).  My dad took us out on his new fishing boat.  The kids loved being on a speed boat, especially Whitney.  Tucker conquered doing a 360 on the knee board and the other kids didn't want a 6 year old to outdo them so they kept trying until they got it as well.

We got new glasses for Tommy which I like way better than the last pair!  Then, school started!  The kids look way too grown up.  I had after school special snacks waiting for the kids each day.  They love that tradition.

This year, I really wanted to get to know the girls in Whitney's class so she had a welcome tea party for all the girls in her class.  She was so excited to get her nails painted for the occasion.  Tommy loves showing off his piano skills whenever he can so he played background music for the party & Tucker joined right in for the treats.  I had hoped the girls would have a nice tea party & then have one with their dolls, but instead they went nuts in the backyard.  It was pretty chaotic!
