October Happenings

October was a busy month. We had fall sports overlapping with winter sports so we were running kids around like crazy and coaching football & basketball at the same time!  Tommy got his braces off, did piano lessons, started his first swim team, and played basketball.  Tucker had football and Whitney had dance 3x/week, theater, & piano.

Around the house, Whitney is the happiest most helpful kid or the grumpiest kid.  We never know how she behaves when at school and activities so we were pleasantly surprised when she earned the "kindest in the cast" award for her theater club.  It was the only award given out & she was pretty proud to have earned it.  She was the magic carpet and a street vendor in the play "Aladdin".

Whitney and I had fun doing festive nails.

Boo at the Zoo. We won a prize for one of the best family themed costumes.  We were from Disney's Descendants. A movie about all of the the villains and their kids.  Whitney was Mal & Vic & I were her parents: Malificent & Hades.  Tucker was one of her best friends, Jay- Jafar's son.

The kids really wanted to throw a Halloween party, but we were too busy so the Sunday before Whitney & Tucker made up their own games for us to play.  They are sure creative!  I love that they love a good party!

Island Park Visit

We had an early snow storm in October so we ran up to the cabin to winterize it and had a pleasant surprise.  The snow was deep enough to play in, but the lake hadn't frozen over yet so it had beautiful reflections of the trees.  I've never been up there with that combination and it was one of my favorite visits to see the breath-taking views!

This is often the sight we see while pulling the kids around.  They are crashing & jumping from sled to sled more than we are pulling them!

The kids woke up before us and quietly played games and made us breakfast!  They sure are growing up!

Jackson Hole in the Fall

We had a long weekend the first weekend in October so we went up to Jackson Hole.  The first day it was really rainy and cold so we swam and played at the hotel.  The 2nd day we braced the cold and went on a bike ride to Teton Village. We biked 13 miles.  We bribed the kids with a hot chocolate at the village and soaked in the hot tub afterwards!  It was beautiful, but cold.

The kids snuck a million blankets and stuffies and filled an entire large suitcase.  They were pretty happy with themselves!
The 3rd day we had much better luck with the weather.  It was cold, but at least the sun was out and the wind died down.  Our drive up to Jackson Lake was SOOOoo beautiful!  The extra driving was worth it.  We loved Jackson Lake and the beautiful mountains behind it.  We'd love to come back and spend an entire weekend here some day.  We let the kids explore a few small trails and walked along the rocky beach.

Our 2nd hike of the day was by Jenny Lake.  We hiked up to Hidden Falls.  The closer we got to the falls, the more and more snow there was!  The hike was beautiful with the snow capped mountains and fall colors.
