Tommy's 9th Birthday Party

Tommy was introduced to Pokemon last fall and has been obsessed ever since.  He quickly learned all the main characters and all of their power, moves, etc.  He wanted a Pokemon party & I wanted something simple so he got a Pokemon cake at a Parkour place.  The kids got lessons in the beginning and then got free time.  We set up an obstacle course for them to try to time themselves on and they really liked that.  Boys are so competitive! His best friend fell down near the beginning and broke his collar bone.  We felt so bad!!  Tommy made a whole new group of friends this last year.  His new friends are all in the GT (gifted & talented) program together.  It's great because they have the nerdiest smart kid jokes and they all love them.  It makes us so happy that he has made a good group of friends.

January Happenings- Vic's Birthday

I had to work on Vic's 39th birthday so my mom took over birthday dinner and fruit pizza for him.  She also had all the kids make him giant paper cakes and cards.  Then my mom watched the kids for us so we could go to Jackson Hole together for Vic's birthday.  It was so magical!  It snowed  and snowed and Jackson is the cutest snow place.  We stayed in the Wort Hotel downtown, ate a nice dinner and breakfast, went to my favorite chocolate shop, and went cross country skiing.  I grew up cross country skiing, but to my surprise, this was Vic's first time!  I couldn't believe it had been 14 years since I'd gone!

We both worked a bunch in January so it seemed like it flew by.  We enrolled both the boys in winter basketball league. We coached Tommy's team.  This was Tucker's first team of all kindergartners and he was the only one on the court that knew what he was doing so he always got the ball.

Vic and I coached the easy league and Tommy was a rock star at it.  We signed him up for a hard league at the same time and he didn't like it as much because they are now allowed to foul.  Even in the hard league he is one of the best at getting rebounds.  I wish he loved it as much as I love watching him!
Tommy's derby car came in last place every time last year so this year I ordered a pre-cut car.  It did much better, but Vic  still put the wheels on crooked so it didn't win every time, but it did good so Tommy was much happier.
We had an extra car so Whitney & Tucker colored the straight block and were excited to race theirs at the end.

New Year's in Island Park

We started the new year off in Island Park. We went up on New Year's Eve and watched the neighbors do some fireworks, did our own dance party, and played games. We worked so hard that week that we didn't make it until midnight when they lit off fireworks right outside our door!
The weather was extra cold this year so we bundled up tight so our skin wasn't even showing & went out to play in the snow.  Most days, we would get so hot that we'd end up taking off our hats and even our gloves.  Sledding is hard work!  The perfect part about the weather was that it scared everyone else off and we had the mountain to ourselves and it continued to snow slow big flakes all week.  It made it feel magical up there!  Our condo was in the perfect place so the sledding hill was right out our back door.

We sled so many times that everyone begged to  be pulled by each other.  Whitney & Vic were the best sports at pulling others.

Vic did most of the pulling behind the 4 wheeler.  We never tired of getting pulled!

Mom went a little stir crazy and turned into an orange bandit!
